Edo Police recover 136 illegal firearms, arrest 9 robbery suspects,

Edo State Commissioner of Police, Babatunde Johnson Kokumo, announced in Benin that operatives of the Command have mopped up a total of 136 illegal firearms of various brands, including 136 live cartridges from members of the public.

He disclosed this while briefing newsmen on the level of compliance with the Inspector General of Police Ibrahim Idris’ directive to the Force to mop up illegal arms from society.

Kokumo explained that nine AK-47, 15 pump action, 38 Dane guns, 23 locally made cut-to-size single barrel guns, 6 locally made double barrel pistols, 12 locally made single barrel pistols, 7 single barrel English made and other sophisticated weapons were recovered from the citizens of the state, including 184 lives cartridges.

Why we reintroduced history studies in school curriculum, by FG

The Federal Government has explained the reason behind the reintroduction of History studies in Nigerian school curriculum for primary and junior secondary levels.

The government said it was unhappy that new generations of Nigerians seem to have lost their sense of identity and patriotism due to absence of history in school curriculum.

Minister of Education, Malam Adamu Adamu, told newsmen in Abuja, that the content of the curriculum would further expose students to deep knowledge of Nigeria’s founding fathers, political and economic journey, ethnic differences and other knowledge that would enable them appreciate national integration and nation building.

He added that the knowledge would rekindle the spirit of nationalism, nationhood and glory in future generations. “It will undoubtedly provide the transparencies through which values are projected, objectified and demonstrated by human society.”

Exhibit lesson of alms giving, prayer, righteousness in Lenten period – Clergy

Christians in the country have been advised to allow the lessons of arms-giving, prayer and righteousness as exhibited during the Lenten period continue to resonate in their lives.
