Gunmen kill three in Zamfara

The Police Command in Zamfara on Wednesday confirmed the killing of three persons at Bawan Daji village in Anka Local Government Area of the state.

The Command’s Spokesman, DSP Mohammed Shehu, told the News Agency of Nigeria in Gusau that the killing was carried out by gunmen.

Shehu said the gunmen who came in large numbers attacked the village in the early hours of Wednesday shooting repeatedly, which led to the death of the three persons.

He said the villagers who were taken unawares were quick to alert a nearby mobile police patrol team which came and engaged the bandits in a gun battle.

The PPRO said the policemen overpowered the bandits and many of them escaped with gunshot wounds.

He urged members of the public to be on alert to report to the nearest authority anyone seen with bullet wounds and seeking medical attention.

Shehu said normalcy had returned to the affected village with people going about their normal businesses.

Whistle-blower Names Israeli Firm That Hacked Buhari’s Emails

The whistle-blower at the heart of the Facebook data scandal engineered by embattled data analysis firm, Cambridge Analytica, Christopher Wylie, has named the Israeli firm that hacked into President Muhammadu Buhari’s private medical and financial records via his emails, in a bid to scare voters and sway the 2015 election in favour of former President Goodluck Jonathan.

Wylie, while giving evidence Tuesday before the British Commons Culture Select Committee, which is investigating fake news, revealed that Cambridge Analytica used the services of an Israeli private intelligence firm, Black Cube, to undermine the Nigerian elections in 2015 by spreading propaganda to demoralise voters.
He claimed that SCL Elections, Cambridge Analytica’s parent company, had been involved in a project in Nigeria in 2015, which involved hacking the private information of Buhari, who was running for president.

Citing the Nigerian Constitution and the constitution of the All Progressives Congress (APC), President Muhammadu Buhari Tuesday shocked his party members when he raised objections to the plan to extend the tenure of elected and appointed executives of the ruling party at all levels, including its National Chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, by one year, possibly saving the party from the series of lawsuits that would have arisen from the extra year handed the executives.

Plans of having a national airline and a sound Maintenance Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facility in the country crystallized, on Wednesday morning, when Minister of State, Aviation, Hadi Sirika, said a Transaction Advisers for the projects would be unveiled, on Thursday, at the 4th Aviation Stakeholders Forum, in Abuja.

Other major projects in the sector for which the Transaction Advisers will be unveiled are; concession of the four International Airports (Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt and Kano) Agro-allied and cargo terminals, development of Aerotropolis (Airport Cities) and establishment of an aviation leasing company.
